Contest 3 Judge
We are pleased to announce Michelle Beaver as the judge for the Fiction500 Contest 3.
Michelle has led writing programs in New York and Denmark for the Louis August Jonas Foundation, where she helped gifted teens from 30 countries improve their writing. She volunteers every week as a writing tutor for disadvantaged girls on scholarship at a private school. Her passion is fiction, and she's working to have her first novel, Cypher Crew, published soon.
Michelle ghostwrote a book in a best-selling line for Reader’s Digest, and co-authored the “Acid Reflux Diet and Cookbook for Dummies” for publisher John Wiley and Sons. Her book “The Gay-Mormon Decade: Changing a Church from Within,” topped Amazon’s list of gay-and-lesbian nonfiction.
Michelle has taught writing and journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and serves on an English Department advisory board at Scottsdale Community College, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
She’s written narrative, in-depth stories for the Associated Press, The San Jose Mercury News, The Oakland Tribune, PHOENIX Magazine, Green Living Magazine, ECHO Magazine, The Arizona Republic, and several other newspapers and magazines. She’s won a national first-place award from the Scripps Howard Foundation for in-depth writing and reporting; a second-place award from the Arizona Press Club for excellence in reporting, and a first-place award for feature writing from the Society of Professional Journalists.
